Nevertheless, it will not be enough. Just a bathroom that fits such a house will swallow the budget of an upper mid-range car.

I would raise the budget,
reduce the floor plan by more than 10 sqm,
simplify the house, roof, here and there a little corner less

So the 550k are supposed to be enough for 256sqm of living space + 60sqm double garage with elaborate architecture?

What do you mean by father-in-law’s construction company? Then you should easily be able to check what all of this will cost you. Or does construction company mean bricklayer business?

It could work if you really have very good connections. But I think another 50k can easily be added on top. Even with connections.
What other wishes do you have? I think I read something about smart home? Controlled residential ventilation? Fireplace? Sauna? Other equipment? Balconies. I think just the exterior facade is simply already above average expensive. I have the feeling you don’t want to save on the equipment either, and then even with connections 2k is quickly reached (I think almost impossible). Connections is also always such a flexible term. Material simply costs and very few really work for nothing.

Regarding the floor plan:
The office is simply oversized. You surely don’t have any customer traffic up there.
I find alternative 14 better regarding the dressing situation. With alternative 16 you steal another 2sqm from the children’s room. Sure, basically 16sqm children’s room is enough, but I think that doesn’t fit your house size. In a normal 160sqm house that’s completely appropriate, but with you having about 100sqm more I find that rather little. (and then an office that is almost as big as both children’s rooms)
To identify exact bottlenecks a more precise dimensioning would be important.
The kitchen looks spacious. Dining room cramped. 64sqm open space should actually be enough to avoid bottlenecks if the layout fits.
I have the feeling the architect (or you) place excessive value on the outside view. Spent a lot of money there, but inside it doesn’t feel nearly as well thought-out. From the outside the house is “wow”, from the inside I don’t find a single “wow” spot (except maybe the mega parent bathroom with 20sqm).

I would say the house must be at least 20sqm smaller. Fewer corners, simpler roof, fewer balconies. Decent equipment, but not premium either. Maybe then with connections it could work with the budget.

I really like the exterior view, but I just can't reconcile it with the construction costs. Every corner, every projection, etc., in my opinion, has a negative impact on the price per square meter – and you have a lot of those. But they definitely also contribute to the charm of the design.

However, I obviously cannot assess the familial favors in monetary terms at all.

I can't quite grasp what bothers me yet. From the outside it's wow Inside it looks like Tetris. Why a toilet in the garage? Why an entrance on the left and right of the stairs? The bathroom downstairs can be made more accessible. It is big enough. Not senior-friendly. Staircase and wardrobe like in a 130 sqm single-family house. On the ground floor almost 30 sqm just for hallway and stairs. The kitchen is big. I would take a closer look at the planning there. It feels very unergonomic. On the upper floor I would eliminate at least one balcony considering the budget. Let's be honest, how often do you use it? Less than desired and hoped for. I find the dressing room very inconvenient. Simply a narrow corridor. Children's rooms rather small for the size of the house. Maybe arrange the upper floor completely differently.

That looks quite nice, and it somewhat reminds me of this thread: - however, the roof view surprises me, as it appears a little less convoluted than expected from the floor plan. Are you a fan of the Gründerzeit period and/or manor houses?

I totally agree with that
