Then ask how many shoes your wife has or even better: list ALL the jackets and shoes of your 4-person family. Dresser in the hallway, that’s where scarves, hats, sunglasses, and that kind of stuff go.
You hardly have any alternatives to store fabrics. Possibly switch seasonally with the wardrobe, but honestly: how many shoes does your wife have to switch in spring, how many shoes do the children have in autumn/winter including rubber boots and sports shoes? How many jackets will hang there after you come from the garden?

And yes: it’s also about keeping order and sparing yourself the sight where you live and should and must be creative. Such a garbage dump drains all your energy!

Everything is correct. We have enough clothes and they are also spread over 4 stadiums. We have a large Ikea wardrobe (~250cm wide) in the hallway, I will try the experiment of fitting all the "clothes" in there, as currently many compartments are occupied by other household items.

However, I still believe that an open wardrobe looks friendlier, and at least one is forced to tidy up compared to the "junk room/wardrobe."

In the hallway itself, one could easily fit coat hooks and benches with space for seasonal shoes/guest shoes under them at 1.80 width.

Just asking everyone here in the forum, who owns a closed wardrobe and what are the experiences?

Best regards Michael

In the subforum Floor Plan Discussions, where you also posted, the criticism of the wardrobe is mentioned in every discussion. Many already have a storage room, either separate or under the stairs.

However, it is not about what others have:
Somewhere 40 jackets or half of them, if the others are stored in wardrobes, have to go. The same applies to 12 pairs of shoes.
If that doesn't make sense to you, plan without it, but so that you can retrofit it later.
By the way, I am in an organizing and decorating group on FB. Yesterday the slogan was kept there: Disorder and clutter make you sick. But for some, the same applies in real life: apprenticeship years. Which is not bad either. I also belong to those who have to experience what they want to implement themselves first.

P.s. I am not the search function. You can find it at the top right.
