Sigh! I believe that before this realization becomes the rule, my house will be finished :-(

To be honest, I don’t know what additional insight a site plan can give me. I can choose which trees I want to cut down. There are two neighbors; one above to the south, one to the right to the east. To the west, the neighboring property is undeveloped (forest). There is no development plan. Just enlighten me. You assume that people know everything. But if that were the case, we wouldn’t be here and the forum would be empty.

You probably rather assume you know everything we don't. The site plan isn't supposed to benefit you – it's meant to catch up on our knowledge gap regarding you so that we can advise you properly. By the way, the forum empties out to the extent that OPs have to be asked forever to adequately inform the other discussants.

By the way, the forum empties as much as the OPs have to be eternally asked to adequately inform the other participants.

Correct. And if you stand in front of the property (on the sidewalk), you look towards the south. How far you build into the property is up to everyone themselves.
