Thank you very much, that helped me a lot. For us, 3 LAN sockets are included as standard from the general contractor. We added a few more during the electrical construction meeting. Among other audacities, the electrical company has now sent us the following offer.

Am I completely wrong here, or are they trying to sell us an 8-port patch distributor and switch for 600€? I can still understand the sockets, but the rest? The diameter of the Cat cables is only possible like this? Huh?

Patch panel 8 port Telegärtner approx. 35 € 8 x cable termination (slowly and carefully max 45 minutes (rather 20) Measuring through? What does that mean to him? Certification measurement with a 10,000 expensive Fluke DSP I have always charged some euros per measurement. He will probably have an 8€ continuity tester. There is an 8 port switch for 95€. The described (offered) model is not available. A "good" switch, matching the rest of the standard, is e.g. a Zyxel GS108, costs about 30 euros. Cables can only be "measured" if they are terminated at both ends either on a patch panel or socket. One side loose I can only measure length, nothing more (no faults in the wiring, defective cables etc.) The sum is not huge, the order is small, still I have the impression that it is twice as high as necessary. Since I do not see a 10" or 19" cabinet in the offer, it will probably be mounted directly on the wall. That can be done, but it's not nice. If so, then please at least tack a good plywood board behind it on the wall that is big enough. Then additional sockets, cable ducts to optimize cable management etc. can also be quickly screwed on with Spax screws.

I'm mainly concerned about the phrase "there's no other way to test the cables" – nobody even requested this offer, we actually want to choose and operate our end devices ourselves. He's trying to sell us the "yes, you have to take this as well."

The switch is not necessary for measuring, anyone who claims that is stupid

Are the moisture-resistant boxes including wiring? From the distribution box hanging in the same room, so about 3m or so?
