My statement was the response to
I understand it rather as we don’t really see a problem with the children’s leisure activities unlike Jurassic, who wants the full city program for the children. At least the choice.
And yes: I am of the opinion that children don’t have to have 4 courses a week.

That is not a village. That is a small town, and one with good infrastructure. Those are two completely different things.

Did I say anything significantly different? The original post was a reaction to the claim in #39 that you would have to finish the house on Saturday and Sunday. That wouldn’t even be a good idea if the OP wanted that.

For adults it’s very simple: in the 20 minutes it takes me in the city to get to hobby X, I can drive across half the county here. And then the choice is large as well. The pure kilometers don’t matter so much if you can drive quickly.
For children it’s not quite so simple, due to lack of a driver’s license. But as a father, I would not plan my life around my child wanting to start lacrosse or another exotic hobby. If it’s important to the child, they can still do it at 20. Most of my hobbies I also only started as an adult.

No, this is a village here. The small-town area is 6 km away. The infrastructure I described is not together, but scattered throughout the whole village.

What is Lacrosse?

I used to think that way too. There are more than enough opportunities in rural areas

The whole topic "for the children" plays a secondary role in my opinion. Not because I don't find the needs of children important. But they are usually satisfied with what they have. More important than courses and such is that they have attachment figures and are given time. When they are very small, they need nothing more than friends and a playground. A few toys, and time. And when they get older, they do their own thing anyway, in the countryside and in the city. My sister's eldest is always on the go, even in the remotest countryside. She has a bike. There is enough around her that interests her. Her school is in the next bigger town. I don't think she has a big need to live more urban.

With the same argument, one could send their children to a hut in Africa. They would also be happy there because they don't know any better... I find that quite a peculiar argument. I still remember quite well the constant discussion with my buddies from the small town "Are we leaving now, at 12:04am? If not, we have to take the train at 4:04am..." In the end, they usually got into a taxi around 2:30am, I could take the tram. For those who can afford it.
