Well, I fully agree with

I am also planning a KFW 55 for my house with a gas boiler and photovoltaics for hot water. Done and I have my peace.

A gas heating system is now so efficient, space-saving, and technically mature. And no trouble with the neighbor because of the location of the heat pump. Everything else with battery storage, etc. is still in its infancy and not yet mature.

Well, the graphic showing how heating is done in Germany isn't really meaningful. It includes heaters from the last 30 years.

If anything, you would have to show a graphic of what is currently installed in new buildings. And yes, gas heating probably still predominates, but I suppose heat pumps are also doing quite well.

I always look at it from an ecological perspective. And while gas is better than oil, it is still a fossil fuel that releases emissions and contributes to global warming. In contrast, a heat pump can score massively when the energy is generated from renewable sources like solar, wind, or hydropower. And in my opinion, the future is exactly in this direction or has to go in this direction. So why not install and promote the more future-proof option?

I would always design and install underfloor heating for low temperatures as required for heat pumps anyway. Who knows if gas will still be allowed in 30 years? And then the additional costs between gas and heat pumps now aren’t that dramatic anymore, I’d say. If possible, I would go for a brine-water heat pump anyway, then it really hardly needs any electricity.

But that is just my opinion.

Oh yes, forgotten and cheap
My parents have just renewed the boiler in their house. Large boiler with hot water tank for a 140m² apartment + 2 holiday apartments. Costs €3,000 from Buderus.

And here is a graphic showing the situation in the new building. And this is from 2016. I think the heat pumps have increased even more now. Honestly, I didn’t expect them to have such a large share already; I thought gas heating systems were still somewhat ahead.

Undisputed. However, if the impression is given here that energy costs can be saved in the medium and long term and that insulation is fundamentally economical, then that is highly speculative or simply wrong. It is consensus that we should move away from fossil energy sources in the medium and long term, as far as it makes sense.

You will only move away from fossil fuels if there is a change in price. People are too stupid to voluntarily spend more money for more environmental protection. Everyone only sees their personal benefit and wants the cheapest option, which at the moment might still be gas.

So, if you want to switch from fossil to renewable, prices have to change. Keyword e.g. CO2 tax.

That is why I assume that in the long term, the heat pump will also be the better financial decision. For the environment, it is so or so in my opinion (provided that you then also use [regenerativ erzeugten Strom]).
