Yes, I was thinking of pure aluminum windows. But without any particular reason.
With plastic (from a well-known German profile manufacturer) we ourselves had some problems. Therefore, plastic is basically dead for me.
But still, thanks for the info that plastic with an aluminum shell exists.
I think we are leaning towards wood-aluminum windows in our minds.
We want as few windows as possible, as many as necessary.
Mainly fixed glazing. A large sliding door element to the terrace and nothing more.

I see aluminum windows in many new commercial buildings. Mostly in connection with large glass fronts spanning several floors.

We have very large windows and also very many of them. All floor-to-ceiling, most fixed glazing but also some doors and sliding doors. We initially thought of pure aluminum, but ultimately decided against it due to the enormous price difference... Aluminum was about 40% more expensive than wood in our quotes. Wood-aluminum would have been somewhere in between.

If you need orientation prices for certain window sizes, just contact me via private message, then I'll look up our offers.

Thank you very much. Also for the offer regarding the window prices. Since there is no floor plan yet, it is not an issue at the moment.

We have floor-to-ceiling windows so far, but for that we had to retrofit numerous fall protections for our kids... We would rather save that money and perhaps take narrow wide windows instead (I casually say 16:9 windows ). But it also depends on the number of floors. If it is possible on the ground floor, then floor-to-ceiling. If two-story, then no floor-to-ceiling windows on the upper floor. One could take fixed glass floor-to-ceiling windows.. but then you should pay the extra cost for safety glass again...

So we have also planned wood-aluminum windows for our new building. However, I also had the same calculated in plastic right away, as I was not entirely sure whether the additional cost for wood-aluminum is worth it for us. The plastic windows are around 53,000 and the wood-aluminum with pine wood at 72,000, so about a 35% difference. If you want other woods such as oak, it will logically be even more expensive. Complete aluminum is certainly great in terms of durability and torsional stiffness, but is it worth it? Visually definitely not.

We are not used to the prices yet Plastic is of course considered for comparison. But we try to limit ourselves to a few windows, and only where it makes sense, floor-to-ceiling + sliding door. Maybe we will look at plastic references - when the time comes.

Off-topic about plastic... As I said, about nine years ago we had a bad experience with dark foil plastic on the outside. (The profile is from the largest German manufacturer)...

Complained multiple times, leaking, warped... never-ending story. Glass was re-blocked several times, fittings were changed several times... Conclusion: at the first heating in summer, the plastic profile warped strongly. The cause is probably the combination of: - large wide floor-to-ceiling windows - dark foil outside - only double glazing According to the dealer and producer from the REGION we are of course a one-off case. Acquaintances coincidentally chose the same dealer about a year later, with the same problems with the same profile, but with triple glazing instead of double. So these are our plastic experiences :-(

I would have exactly the same concerns. When I addressed the thermal issue with the seller, he said he couldn’t say exactly how the foil and warping would behave because there were no long-term experiences with this yet…
I probably hit the nail on the head there.

But just for optical reasons alone, I would never want to install plastic.

But the prices are still very reasonable. Normally, the offer would be 30% higher, we are just lucky to get the windows through a friendly general contractor who passes on his discount with the window manufacturer.
However, the windows include aluminum exterior roller shutters or blinds and everything is electric.
