That sounds to me like a defensive offer.

Drywall sounds a bit expensive, the rest rather cheap. But yes, actually you should best just upload the offer (with blacked-out personal data from you and the company). Then we can say more about it. And if you don't want to do that, definitely get at least two more offers.

Hello,
yes, there is a (drawn by me) plan of the existing structure with measurements, as well as photos. The scope of services is, in my opinion, included in the offer (description of the individual items). I have seen the new bathroom plan at the company, but I don’t have it here (currently I only have 3D views of the plan, which no longer correspond to the current one). However, I could draw the new plan myself or create it in a bathroom planner.

“We really went all out” - that’s actually exactly what we didn’t want. We had absolutely no intention of renewing underfloor heating and screed, etc. - I already asked above whether that was necessary.

One long side is completely occupied by the tub and shower, without a gap. If you swap the two, in my opinion, the connection/fitting in the current shower would have to be moved vertically downwards by 30-40 cm so that the height fits for the tub. The current tub connection must be moved 30-40 cm upwards and about half a meter sideways to fit the new shower.

If that messes everything up, we would refrain from swapping the positions of the tub and shower and also from the built-in shower. Then it will just be a glass partition.

On the other side near the toilet and washbasin, all connections would remain in place, I think.

The company from which we have the offer is by the way very likeable to us. We would like to commission them - if only the price were not an issue. Since we have already caused them some work, I would also like to pay them something for the planning if we do not commission them.

Insanely much money - for something that is still not the dream bathroom. If I now come up and say that I would like this or that fitting, and the toilet not this one, and the washbasin also different, then I fear another 10k will be added (for completely normal mid-range stuff, not Vola etc.).

Unfortunately, I am at a loss as to which other company we could ask. Unfortunately, we have no recommendations now. We have already asked our usual house plumber, who I think was not interested, I would prefer someone who can, for example, really lay tiles well.

Does anyone have a recommendation? Location: Mainz.

...blacken out and suspend the offer, I could do that, although I have difficulties "repurposing" the company's intellectual property here. I would need a bit of time for that - the offer is 16 pages.

I basically assume that the company has not calculated exorbitantly. They themselves said that it is a "maximum offer," it definitely won’t get more expensive, rather cheaper. I just wonder whether it really has to be planned to redo the underfloor heating, for example. But maybe that can’t be said in general, and the question of whether it is necessary can only be answered once the tiles are removed...?

For that, we would need the plans, for example.

If the sewage/water pipes are to be newly laid because fittings are being moved, a new screed will be necessary.

Demolition work can certainly be done yourself (with muscle power, a jackhammer, and a container/trailer). Savings easily in the four-figure range.

I would also recommend (at least) a second quote.

I would agree with the advice to obtain further quotes. My gut feeling says that it is rather expensive. The bathroom is also not particularly large at 9.5m². Replacing the underfloor heating also seemed somewhat unnecessary to me, but apparently that is not one of the big expenses either, according to your breakdown.
