So you have, what others accommodate in a large utility room, distributed over two rooms on the ground floor. 11 sqm just to store supplies would be a bit much (unless you keep stockpiles, as was common in the countryside in the past - but who still does that today?).

Please don't be mad at me because of the "prepper" - it was not meant in a derogatory way at all! When I saw the room sizes and their labels on the floor plan, this association just came to me spontaneously.

By the way, I find it really interesting to look at floor plans here in the forum and read about the ideas people had in planning (and the critiques are also very instructive).

: Thanks :-) That is really a good idea and would have been better too... Unfortunately, all the walls are already up and the shower drain connection... Arghh... It really would have been better that way... :-(

: No problem, since I don’t know what a "prepper" is anyway, I’m not offended... :-)

Yes, the floor plan came about for several reasons that are not obvious at first glance. Priorities were: - The terrace should not be directly visible from the street (we have a corner lot and the street runs past the southeast) - Our development area is called "Windhof"... and for good reason, meaning the terrace should also provide some wind protection from the predominantly westerly wind - We want to have our bedroom upstairs with the children first and later, when they are older (like during puberty), move it downstairs to the ground floor. In doing so, we wanted to separate the bedroom and bathroom somewhat from the living area by the small hallway - We wanted to somewhat separate the staircase from the living area (mainly for noise protection) - Upstairs, we wanted to create the possibility of having a separate, closed-off apartment (in case a child stays longer, etc.). Only the storage room should continue to belong to the lower apartment. - There should be direct access from the garage to the house

A Prepper is, to my knowledge without googling, someone who prepares their food fresh for the coming day or week, so salad and vegetables are prepared in a way that they stay fresh and can also be eaten immediately as a snack, meal, salad, or to be warmed up. I first saw the word on Pinterest, where it was about clean eating and healthy meal prep for the lunch break at work. You need a freezer as well as space for a refrigerator that can hold several Tupperware containers or jars. Also, a storage area for lots of fresh products, bought on Saturday and then prepared on Sunday.

Edit: Wiki talks about stockpiling for disaster scenarios :)
