You are absolutely right mEA. I roughly calculated it for myself and just the filters I install annually exceed the amount of energy saved by a factor of three in terms of cost. Controlled residential ventilation is comfort (luxury) that one may/might afford. By the way, I am of the opinion that controlled residential ventilation can help avoid possible problems with tenants (not everyone can ventilate properly, possibly only because no one is present for 10-12 hours). But that rather falls under the category of "buying an improved quality of life with money." But has anyone seriously claimed that this would save (money)?I have also been considering installing a controlled residential ventilation system for some time. However, I consider saving money with it to be out of the question. Costs for maintenance, filter replacement, cleaning, and electricity consumption likely leave no room for savings. At least in our relatively warm region with a standard outside temperature of -11. I consider it critical to install the air ducts in such a way that you never have to access them again. Retrofitting the controlled residential ventilation system should be possible here with almost no additional effort.
