Hello, I have a question. It was forgotten to install an antenna connection for the SAT system in one room. Unfortunately, everything is already plastered and painted. So a bit late. Now the electrician wants to give me a receiver as "compensation," with which I can get a connection to the SAT dish via the power circuit. I am not very comfortable with that. Such a receiver can also break down sometimes (usually just after the warranty has expired), and then I have to buy a new one. Is it very complicated to install such a connection afterward? Directly on the opposite wall in the living room is an antenna connection. Thank you very much for your help. Best regards Doris

Well, the satellite cables have to go directly from the dish, or from the multiswitch to the participants... so it helps very little if the other connection is nearby...

Unless you switch everything to a single-cable solution, but that's more bad than good...

It depends on the effort and what was ordered...

I wouldn't want to distribute the satellite signal over power cables either.

Hi Doris,
as Mycraft already asked: "what was ordered?"

If you have a clear contract with connections in every room, the good electrician now has a serious problem.
Then he just has to open everything up again, lay the cables, plaster and paint again. It's probably a huge effort, if you already live there I would probably not have it done any more and ask for a very, very significant price reduction.
If you have not moved in yet: his problem!

You shouldn't agree to a makeshift solution like "tapping another connection". The cable has to go all the way to the dish or the multiswitch!

Good luck and best regards,

Andreas

Thank you for your answers. A connection has been ordered. We want to move in on 12/22, the acceptance is on 12/16/15. He has also marked it on his electrical plan, I have seen it. I will talk to the house provider ( [Schlüsselfertig] ) tomorrow. What would be a reasonable discount? Thank you Doris

@Doris

"No very, very significant price reduction." Ask him how high he estimates the costs of a contractual correction and then let him live. No one is flawless; not even an electrician ;-)

He should keep it simple and good, the acceptance hasn’t happened yet so he still has time...

When you buy a car, you don’t just have three door handles (for 4 doors) and one on the fourth is missing... You wouldn’t accept that either... even if you got a set of winter tires with it.
