Hello everyone,

I'm just asking for help here :)

Our first Ikea kitchen is assembled except for the above-mentioned combo. Our problem is a block consisting of a domsjö sink including Metod base cabinet and right next to it the Skinande dishwasher. The challenge is that due to space constraints it must remain a standalone two-piece block, i.e. the sink on the left and the dishwasher immediately on the right. All of this between the wall on the left and the door on the right.

Since the sink needs a countertop, my solution would be the following: screw a piece of countertop (approx. 5 cm) on the left side of the base cabinet (so the sink can be installed on top), then attach the countertop continuously on the right side of the base cabinet flush with the lateral end of the dishwasher. Sink installed, and then cover the dishwasher on the right side with a cover panel.

Is something like this practical?

I would be very grateful for alternative suggestions.

Best regards

Hello, the countertop cannot rest on the dishwasher. It seems best to me to install support brackets made of countertop material next to the sink cabinet and the dishwasher.

As the IKEA expert mentioned, you cannot use the dishwasher to support the countertop. I also have the dishwasher at the edge. I simply screwed a HAMMARP oak countertop to the floor with an aluminum angle and also screwed it to the countertop at the top with an aluminum angle. It is important that you leave 3-5mm of space under the side panel in case water leaks and the board cannot absorb it.

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

Maybe a silly question, but why can't I mount the plate directly on the dishwasher?

Because it is not designed for that and may also need to be unplugged in case of repair.

But you don't want to use the Domsjö drop-in sink? Then you would definitely need another cabinet next to the sink base cabinet to support the sink. (Haben wir gerade hinter uns ;).

Greetings from the lake
