Well, about 20 hours
It’s not about continuous lighting. Just why shouldn’t the TV turn on at 11 PM because the indoor cat prefers to sleep in the living room in this weather and at 3:23 AM hunger strikes and a light turns on

IMHO too little, the burglar will not be deterred by that.

Then timers don't help either.

If baskets for collections are standing in front of the door, it's best to put them all together in the neighborhood.
Would be used in the WOB area for labeling.
For example, blue dog, green no one home during the day

There are special security films for retrofitting windows that make breaking in more difficult. You could also install an alarm system with only glass break detectors and/or vibration sensors. Some manufacturers also advertise motion detectors that do not respond to animals up to a certain size. We have such devices, but unfortunately cannot share any practical experience yet because our house is still under construction and the system is therefore not yet operational.

So, when the baskets kept showing up around us, I collected them within a radius of about 100m and disposed of them properly.

Of course not, or would you see that as an obstacle?

The only thing that helps when you're away, or let's say minimizes the risk of a break-in, is a presence simulation.

After that come the passive aids like laminated safety glass, etc.

And of course, as silly as it sounds, your house has to require a bit more effort than the neighbor’s.

When we were building, our construction supervisor from his residential area in the neighboring town told us that after about 4-5 years the first break-ins occurred there. After that, it happened regularly until the police increased patrols. In our residential area, after exactly the same period, there were now also the first 2 break-ins and one attempted break-in. No idea if it’s because then hedges and bushes reach a certain height or if, for example, money is available again for technical gadgets.

The residents of the 3 houses were all absent and all 3 houses shared certain similarities:
- Houses with carports (empty carport = residents are absent)
- Houses on corner/edge plots (= poor visibility)
- Houses with good escape possibilities

In the one attempted break-in, they found that burglar-resistant windows had been installed and went to the neighboring house.
