So I always wonder why people should be looking for keys. Mine are always within reach of the window/door but unreachable from the outside.

Btw. one of our neighbors who had a break-in had RC2N windows, but without lockable door handles. After the break-in, everything is RC3 including handles with keys.

Locked windows without keys nearby are no longer an escape route.

Speak windows/doors in RC3.

In private houses, usually "only" RC2N or at most RC2 is installed.

Sure, the dog comes on vacation, but when you sleep or are away for a short time... Surely we are one of the last houses here that would choose that ;)

I wish that for you, but at a friend’s place, during a break-in, both large dogs were killed by the burglars. And that’s not the first case I know of. I believe burglars are deterred by dogs as little as car thieves. For the guys who go about it ruthlessly and professionally, it is everyday business.
