Really interesting dog wisdom. Our quite gluttonous dog does not accept any food or other entertainment in unusual situations. When the familiar neighbor comes in with us, he will do nothing, but with strangers... Quickly in and out, no chances.

Of course, the dog is with us on vacation, but when you sleep or are away briefly... Surely we are one of the last houses here that they would choose ;)

Especially when you are sleeping, you definitely notice if someone wants to get in. That is also the most important situation for me.

Do you mean that more emphasis is placed on passive safety without a dog?
Interesting

In our residential area, I would come during the day as a thief. There isn't a soul around. And if someone should be there, you arrive nicely with a small van and magnetic roofer advertising on it. Ladder to the roof, remove the roof shingles, and then down the cellar stairs. And for the next cases, you also have advertising boards for terrace roofs or as sanitation.

It's a guess, in my opinion it should be the same with a dog. Of course, reality is often different.

The professional thieves probably act according to the same pattern. It's only a guess as well :)

In the course of our new construction, I also dealt with the topic of burglary protection. A visit to the mobile advisory center of the police here in Pf. was very enlightening. The commissioner said that wherever windows and front doors were installed in RC2 or better, only attempted burglaries were observed. He advised us not to save money on the glass yet, as it has apparently become common practice among burglars to simply smash the glass and open the window from the inside. So lockable window handles are mandatory. Without them, there is apparently no RC2 as far as I know. He would forego alarm systems with RC2 windows. Over time, that would only be annoying and cause trouble if you forget to close a window once in a while. We had also ordered our windows only in RC2N and will probably add the safety glass as well.

We also wanted to use these lockable handles. But then we thought about it and realized that it would significantly reduce our quality of life if we constantly had to search for the keys just to quickly open a window or a patio door. That's simply not feasible.
