You can calculate that.
That alone is useless!
Who claims that? Furthermore, how can you decide on a manufacturer from the outset when there are no calculations such as heat load etc. available. If that doesn’t end badly.

Best regards.

Well, I simply have my heating engineer and he doesn’t exactly have an endless number of companies to choose from. He still has to calculate everything for sure, but he mainly sells Alpha Innotec systems, which are also available in different sizes. I think it won’t depend solely on the heat pump manufacturer and Alpha Innotec has a good reputation when it comes to heat pumps, I’ve done quite a bit of research on that already...

A good heating engineer offers every air heat pump available in Germany
Heating engineers sell and install. Usually, nothing is calculated at all, and if it is, then piece by piece and mostly not technically correct! The actual efficiency of the system (consumption during operation) doesn’t matter to them, the main thing is that the heating works. Nothing regarding consumption is stated in the contract with 100% certainty.
There are at least 20 others. The primary factor is not the manufacturer/device, but the specific needs of the building considering user behavior and the climate location. Only once the demand is calculated does one start looking for a suitable manufacturer/device!

We have just received the documents for our plot of land, that is, the one we want to build on after we possibly bought it... One drawback of the plot is that we are not only forbidden to drill, but we are fundamentally not allowed to build geothermal systems because the area is located in a drinking water protection zone. So, the only option left for us is the air heat pump variant. Well, the municipal utilities would supply us with gas, but somehow my tiny bit of enthusiasm for building that I somehow managed to muster is fading. (My parents built a house 14 years ago, and that was so off-putting to me that I made a mental note of "Never ever!" Unfortunately, our youngest daughter is physically disabled, and there aren't really any good alternatives to building.)

Does the independent MEP planner also do this calculation? Or do I have to add someone else to my list?

If he is also a certified energy consultant, he should be professionally competent in this. If not, you can send me an e-mail.

Best regards

What data do you need for the calculations? Our house is not yet 100% finally planned, but the most important details are already quite settled. I only know that our contractor is also allowed to issue [Energieausweise], so is he then a certified energy consultant of that kind? I guess I'll have to ask again. He assured me that the system, if we decide on air or geothermal energy, will be calculated and dimensioned very precisely. To some extent, you have to rely on that, since I am not an expert after all. Our construction company is from the neighborhood and only operates regionally, so also with regional specialist companies; I have a bit more trust in that than in a nationwide general contractor.
