45 cm, 60 cm dishwashers and the trouble of the fronts

Hello dear community,

I have been planning an Ikea kitchen for 4 weeks and keep running into obstacles due to lack of space. Now I have registered here and am simply asking a few questions. The forum search could only help me somewhat regarding 60 cm dishwashers, but the 45 cm problem still persists.

So now my questions:

1. I want to equip the 45 cm IKEA dishwasher with a Ringhult front (red high gloss). Is this possible? Maybe with some tinkering?

2. Is it possible to install a 45 cm non-IKEA dishwasher? If yes, also with RINGHULT? Partially integrated preferred, but can also switch to fully integrated.

3. Same as 2., but with a 60 cm dishwasher?

4. Will there be problems if the dishwasher is placed at the end of the kitchen somewhere? I read somewhere something about screwing the fronts to adjacent carcasses. Also with partially integrated dishwashers?

So that's it for now. Looking forward to answers.

Hey,

I encountered exactly the same issue you described: My partner and I had very little space available and also because there were only two of us, we decided on a 45cm dishwasher from IKEA. The disappointment came when we found out that only two fronts were available: glossy white and a front with stainless steel look. Neither of us could really believe it, so we also checked again directly at the furniture store. Unfortunately, the information in the 3D kitchen planner corresponded to the actual offer... A special order is unfortunately not possible at IKEA. We were also strongly advised against ordering a 60cm front and cutting it ourselves with a circular saw. The reason is, of course, the moisture that would damage the front on the cut side after a very short time. We actually wanted to choose a matte white front, but due to this problem, we decided on the glossy white front and are very, very satisfied with it. So you could consider foregoing the special size in order to realize your wish for the red kitchen. However, there are also very nice example kitchens in the furniture stores that use several fronts (maybe white fronts for the base cabinets and red for the wall cabinets?)

Best regards and good luck with your planning! Annika

Hello,
Annika has already said everything about 45 cm.
With 60 cm, there are more possibilities. If the dishwasher is at the end of a row, a support panel for the countertop must definitely be installed. Parts of a fitting can possibly also be attached to it. A side panel could only be omitted if there is a wall next to the dishwasher and, for example, a support strip can be attached to it.
When installing a third-party appliance, it would be advantageous if it allows the direct installation of 80 cm high fronts (some models from Miele and some from Siemens/Bosch/Neff with [Varioscharnier]).

Hello you two. Thank you very much for your answers!

I was at IKEA today and got some things explained to me and forgot to ask a few questions

Am I correct in assuming that with a third-party 45cm/60cm dishwasher I basically only have to make sure it is leveled? With a semi-integrated one, I don’t have to worry about any hinges either. I just have to make sure that I get a front at IKEA that fits on it. Are there fronts at IKEA that would fit on semi-integrated ones? Are my observations correct?

oh yes... can someone tell me the hole distances of the METOD kitchens? I forgot to measure

Thank you very much!

Hello,

with Miele and also Bosch, Siemens, Neff you can view the installation and assembly instructions for each device. Just click on a device and go to Download.
The height of the required fronts is also specified there.

On the topic of 45 cm dishwasher: If you can somehow make the space, a 60 cm dishwasher is always the more economical solution.

If you do not put everything in the dishwasher and wash large items, pots, and pans by hand, a modular dishwasher from BSH is also an idea. It can then be installed in a tall cabinet or base cabinet and equipped with a 60x60 front.

Best regards

One personal opinion: red and stainless steel from the fronts actually do not match that badly. Those who opt for a country-style design have a visually bigger problem at Ikea if they do not have space for a 60 cm machine.
