Nice plot!
Why? Why does one want a "garage directly in the house"?
I can understand the wish to have a short way from the garage to the house, although I would never favor a direct entrance if it causes other disadvantages. But INSIDE the house?
One does not exclude the other.
No, no space in the garden is wasted space.
Has to??? Why not in the west?
The plot is predestined for a short driveway and the garage then as a privacy screen.
If you want a vegetable garden, it should also be easily accessible from the kitchen.
I rather see an L-shape fitting the plot. Children's rooms to the south, west terrace in the corner... there are more possibilities; you have to see how it works out.
You can additionally bring in sunlight through staggered shed roofs or skylights.
Basically, make sure the children have it somewhat quieter and that the access to the common room does not become a bottleneck.
