Hello everyone,

Yesterday I moved into my new apartment and am now planning the kitchen. Since I only have 2.35m on the main side, I wanted to plan the kitchen around the corner to get more workspace. However, on this side there is a window with a height of just 0.87m at the bottom edge. The window starts 0.98m from the corner.

My idea now would be to install the sink in the corner cabinet and have the drainer go towards the window, with the kitchen unit ending just before the window, as this one is simply too deep. My question is whether this is theoretically possible.

I would thank you if you could answer my question and possibly have other ideas on how I could solve it differently. I have attached a picture.

Best regards
Lennard

Hello, if you place the sink in the corner, you won’t be able to reach the basin properly. Is the kitchen open or are there additional walls? Floor plan? Are the 87 cm measured up to the bottom edge of the opened window sash?

Hello,

first of all, thanks for the quick response.

Regarding your questions:
1. I wouldn’t place the sink completely in the corner, but just so it fits into the corner cabinet. That way the kitchen would end in front of the window.
2. Yes, the 87 cm is up to the lower edge of the opened window sash.
3. I have attached a floor plan. It should be noted that on side "A" between the two doors there is still an 80 cm wide cutout. I can connect the washing machine here.

Hello,

what is in front of wall C - is that a refrigerator? Or is it something fixed that you couldn't, for example, place at wall A next to the washing machine? Otherwise, you could still create workspace with base and wall cabinets at wall C. And at the wall with 2350 mm, you could run wall and base cabinets straight through to wall B and then place the sink all the way to the left with the drain to the left.

Hard to advise here, as I lack the visual impression. ;)

You really have to be able to stand right in front of the sink. I no longer have a draining area and have never missed it. Cleaning the draining area used to be terribly annoying for me. You could lower the countertop by 10 cm in front of the window by shortening the cabinet accordingly. Is the refrigerator a freestanding unit? Does it already exist?

Yes, the refrigerator already exists and is a freestanding unit about 1.50 meters high. Yes, I have also been thinking all along whether I really need the drain surface. The corner solution would be quite nice to place things like the coffee machine and the kettle on the countertop. Without this solution, the countertop space is limited to a minimum.
