Often, one probably cannot really assess for oneself why one prefers one color or shape over another. So you are right that we cannot always approach the answer to this question with reason. For example, I only know about my preference for round shapes that I perceive them as softer and perhaps also more sensual. Regarding the shades of yellow, it is more obvious; I perceive them as sunny, friendly, inviting, and thus attractive to me. However, I still do not wear yellow clothing.

Phew, quite a exhausting topic.

I think it's good that everyone builds the way they like. Around our building plot, some houses have been standing for over 25 years, and I think it's nice that there is variety because of the different years they were built.

By the way, when choosing the plot, we did not orient ourselves to the appearance of the other houses. For us, the location, the possibility to enjoy the sun in the garden, and the quiet thanks to the dead-end street were more important.

We will build our house on a street that was developed about 18 years ago. Almost every house there looks different, which we like very much. However, none of the houses is particularly striking. The differences rather relate to the fact that everything is represented from the bungalow to the one-and-a-half-story to the two-full-story houses, and also the house facades come in the colors white, gray, pale yellow, terracotta. Some with shutters, some without shutters. The front gardens are all designed differently, but nothing you haven’t seen everywhere before. And we are also building on the fourth or fifth last plot before the end of a dead-end street. What I find great, and did not know before, is that there is no sidewalk. Yahoo, never having to get up at 6:00 a.m. in winter to shovel snow.

There is no accounting for taste.

But almost everyone in the thread tries it anyway. Popcorn!

You are mistaken: usually, on streets without sidewalks that are also meant for pedestrians, you have to clear a 1.5 meter wide strip at the edge. And even on both sides. We received a notice from the municipality regarding this, as we have agreed with neighbors - sometimes he clears the side, sometimes we clear ours...

Oh come on, anyone who posts a picture must always expect criticism. I also know very well how most neighbors shake their heads about our garden because it simply doesn't look well-maintained enough for them. Yeah, well, so be it. I noticed your eco-paving for driving on, I think it's great and yes, in that amount and on a slope it certainly wasn't cheap. For us, it just wouldn’t be so dark and overgrown. And yes, in some areas I am very eco-friendly, in others less so and definitely not a terrorist, I know that you don’t win people over with bans and "it’s all crap." It’s just harder to convey that in a forum than to personally show some contrasts and the pros and cons...
