White-anthracite - Where does the preference come from?

I like concrete, but concrete look can get lost on me.

You can’t be serious, can you? I also find bright blue (like the recycling bins) combined with an orange-red roof absolutely terrible.
Best regards

The trend towards white/anthracite has, from my point of view, two different causes that merely coincide by chance:
2. actually related to quality in white and anthracite or the gray spectrum: this is probably due to the general trend towards the "middle" / non-commitment / high flexibility, not wanting to position oneself firmly on the one hand and, on the other hand, due to the changeability of fashion(s) choosing so-called "basics" that one can keep in order not to have to reinvest frequently.
1. the approval is not even specifically for white and anthracite, but rather for the mainstream itself: securing participation in being "in" by going with the flow. Maybe in 2022, all awnings will have Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weeny Yellow Polka Dots – who knows?

In the printing industry, this is indeed called "achromatic colors."

Yes, with some houses having roof tiles "perfectly" positioned between strawberry and carrot, I think there should actually be a warning label indicating the dye used. And with blackberry-colored bricks, I always think someone must have thrown a brand-new pair of jeans into the washing machine.

By the way: I keep noticing with us - the more standard the house, the greater the urge to choose colors or color combinations that at least force people walking by to give a diplomatic "Oh, that is bold." Almost the last chance to not come across as TOO square and to retain a bit of nonconformist rebelliousness. Especially when the average architecture does not differ from the right and left neighbors.

By the way, the original post is based on completely wrong facts. My parents already had black windows (house built 1878). My old house also had the white/anthracite combination. Coincidentally also built in ’78. So: black like ebony has existed for a long time. Anthracite is probably due to production reasons related to plastic windows. The white plaster being the cheapest may be obvious. That’s about the exterior appearance. : all options for smileys, links, text formatting no longer work with Safari iPhone 7 (for 1-2 weeks?)
