Which tiles to choose for the entrance area? What did you choose?

Hello,

we are still looking for the right tiles for our hallway and, like many others, are wavering between light or dark tiles.

Our entrance area is about 10 sqm: 2.40m x 4m. The adjacent guest WC of 3 sqm should have the same tiles as the hallway.

Our current favorite would be the tile "Gardenia Orchidea Brickyard Bianco" (just google under "Shopping", links are not allowed here) in 80x80cm or 40x80cm. It is a very light, matte, cream-colored tile with some texture.

Alternatively, a dark floor (slate, gray, anthracite, also with texture, matte).

The (concrete) stairs will probably be covered with wooden steps. Probably in ash wood, which is rather light. We are concerned that everything will look too bright if we choose light tiles.

Adjacent to the hallway is the dining room with medium brown wood-look tiles.

Maybe you have a few tips and opinions regarding color, format, and maintenance!?

A completely different question: Why different tiles at all? Uniform, continuous flooring can certainly also be perceived as high-quality.

I see it like .. continuous tiles are much nicer. It just looks more spacious with the door open. I also have the same tiles throughout my apartment (except for the bathroom .. I usually don’t have the door open there). And, in the bedroom on the same floor, a foot-friendly goat hair/wool carpet in the color of the tiles. Even there, it still looks very homogeneous when the door is open. As a crowning touch, the concrete tiles on my large balcony terrace are also in this light shade, so it also looks like an extended area from inside the apartment.

I would definitely do everything uniformly, it just looks so much better.

Best regards

Relatively simple: we want tiles in the kitchen. The area to the dining and living room is relatively open, without a door. Therefore, we also want the same tiles in the dining and living room so that it looks more spacious, as you also say. At the same time, we want a cozy atmosphere in the living room, i.e. wood-look tiles there and also in the kitchen.

In addition, wood-look tiles in the upstairs bathroom and parquet in the bedrooms. Also, wooden steps on the staircase.

Then wooden furniture and wood-look countertop in the kitchen.

We do not want a rather busy wood-look in the hallway as well, which would then also have to be coordinated with the wooden staircase.

Otherwise, we would have the whole house in wood-look.

Then lay the tiles on the stairs as well
Or do them in exposed concrete, that's also trendy and fits the wood look.
