Which terrace furniture?

Yes, the thing with the bulky cushions is a bit of an issue, especially since we bought 2 sets. It’s best to have a large weatherproof box somewhere. A rain shower of course doesn’t harm the cushions.

Hello????
Show me your terrace, after you asked about terrace coverings and such last year. This just won't do at all now.

I don’t find such furniture without a roof on the terrace very practical. You always have to put the cushions up and down again; I don’t think you’d feel like doing that if you only want to sit outside for half an hour.

Best regards

It works, but it is definitely impractical.

One year is alright, but then the table turns green, the edges of the poly rattan suffer.
Cushions stored in a container work for a few years, but leaving them there instead of changing them every day would really be a good measure.

Unfortunately, we have not had good experiences with polyrattan. We bought a branded product, so nothing from the hardware store or discount retailer. Our lounge was always in direct sunlight, first on a terrace, and in recent years on our south-facing balcony. Due to the large windows directly behind the lounge, the furniture got "double" sun exposure. This led to the individual pieces cracking, at first only sporadically, later extensively. At the time of purchase, the specialist dealer advertised that the furniture could be kept outside all year round; they were designed exactly for that. Well, apparently they were not. Therefore, I unfortunately cannot recommend polyrattan furniture. I then covered the damaged areas with metal cladding, which at least saved them for another two summers. The seating areas were protected and reinforced with wood. One advantage of the whole situation is that when moving to our house, I no longer have to carry furniture with me. Regards, Pierre

A terrace roof obviously helps. The uncovered furniture has no cushions in winter. From spring onwards, the cushions are outside and are only brought in when it rains or storms. Forgetting them is no big deal. They are not carried back and forth a lot. I have also seen the damage to the thin, ribbon-like polyrattan; we have a thicker and rounder weave. It is partly exposed to direct sunlight - we will see how durable it is. We also have quite sturdy teak tables and benches, some of which are over 10 years old and of course more robust. They are therefore placed in a somewhat more weather-exposed area of the property. The most robust are the benches made of graywacke in front of the front door. However, you don’t carry those anywhere anymore.
