Thank you. No, we do not need to achieve an efficiency standard (not KfW financed/ no regulatory requirements). We simply want a reasonable (price-benefit appropriate) insulation.

Due to soundproofing --> interior walls attic made of KS.

We do not want a controlled residential ventilation system (we do not like it).

In connection with this, a few questions about thermal insulation:

What do I need to pay attention to with windows? Currently, (except for the basement) 3-pane insulated clear glass made of Meranti wood (white inside and outside/ muntins glued onto glass/ simple profile/ aluminum rain drip cover) are planned. Basement: plastic windows. All windows on the ground floor/attic will have electrically operated aluminum shutters.

Roof terrace: reinforced concrete slab with welded sloped insulation (Evalon) (according to thermal protection calculation).

Attic: "foil and insulation according to thermal protection calculation"...

Best regards

Ok, so the interior walls in the attic are made of KS - and the interior walls on the ground floor/basement? This does not have to do with insulation but also with soundproofing - and with practicality regarding hanging cabinets/shelves/TVs/...

When it comes to windows - regarding insulation - people like to boast about a great U-value of, say, 0.5 (W/m²K). However, this usually refers to the Ug-value, which only relates to the glass and not the entire window. Only with a good frame does this make sense.

In any case, you can hardly go wrong with triple glazing. More important is that the calculation is done properly and that what was calculated is actually installed. Otherwise, the sources of error - unfortunately - lie in the details of the installation, which can only be ensured through meticulous supervision by the site manager. The same applies to the roof terrace and the roof.

Best regards

I have a question in this context, as I have often read 17.5 cm masonry + insulation in the construction service descriptions of companies in our region. Subjectively (as a layperson), 17.5 cm seems quite thin; I could imagine that load-bearing capacity and sound insulation might not be optimal. With the same insulation, one could also use 24 cm masonry. What do you think the masonry thickness should be at a minimum? Or do you consider 17.5 cm to be unproblematic / what does it depend on how to assess it?

1. The construction companies will build you a house that does not collapse. 2. 17.5 cm sand-lime brick masonry is normal/common. We have also used it. Sound insulation is good; with clinker/ETICS it is also well insulated. Of course, you can always build differently, e.g., with a thick stone and without insulation (monolithic). The type of stone can also vary.

1. Sure... 2. However, sand-lime brick is not offered as standard. I wonder if it is built so often or if it is stated in the construction specification as the cheapest wall structure so that the offer initially looks cheap but most builders then choose a thicker masonry for an additional cost.
