Whether you "need" a ventilation system probably depends on several factors. In the end, you have to comply with the energy saving ordinance – if you want to keep the insulation minimal, you need supporting technology such as ventilation – with any wall construction of appropriate thickness, you can avoid the controlled residential ventilation (if you really want to).

Hello everyone,

Seismic zone would be: 0
I am building with a developer who has offered me the 3 wall constructions so far. Normally he always takes the 1st combination.
My potential site manager said that with the T8 stone I could probably avoid the controlled residential ventilation.

Hello,

do you have a specific reason why you do not want controlled residential ventilation?

Regards,

Dirk

Hello Dirk,

Actually, not really. In this case, I just wanted to save the costs (ca. 5,000€). We also like to keep the windows open at the moment. In the bedroom almost all year round

I don’t know either. Maybe the standard wall construction with ETICS and controlled residential ventilation would be the best decision after all

Hello,

So you get land + house from a single source. Think about the property transfer tax!

So you are primarily talking about the monetary side of the upcoming construction project. If you want to achieve the KfW 70 standard, you can—almost always—do without controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery; if it is only about the KfW funds. BUT in my opinion, that would be too short-sighted...

A ventilation system always makes sense; heat recovery only in the rooms where heat can actually be recovered. It makes sense alone for the reason that you cannot guarantee continuous ventilation of the new building within the first two years; even more so if you want to build with ETICS. Homeowners have the "annoying" habit of pursuing a regular job.

Nowadays there are many systems, starting with inexpensive decentralized ones (approx. TEUR 6) up to central systems (approx. TEUR 10). We are currently using a system, for example, which I always describe as a middle ground between both variants; not quite central but by no means decentralized (approx. TEUR 7). Take a look here in the forum under the corresponding threads and then decide at your leisure. All advantages and disadvantages have been extensively described.

Rhenish greetings

I am actually a fan of Poroton but if you build with [WDVS] I might rather choose [KS], due to higher mass (summer heat protection).

By the way, after two months in the house, I wouldn’t want to miss controlled living space ventilation anymore. Think it over carefully.
