Hello everyone, our single-family house is now finished and from the very large and very long kitchen window we look directly at the very ugly house and the neglected garden of our neighbor. There is 3 m of space, about 2 m of which are to be paved. I am at a loss, what is suitable and also nice to look at? And does not take up too much space? Hedges seem to me not to be tall enough or take a long time to grow, right? Thank you very much!!!

We have chosen bamboo and are very impressed so far. Our Fargesia Massai has already gained significantly in density and height within a few months and will soon provide complete privacy screening.

Bamboo comes from the third year onwards and is relatively more expensive than "hedge planting."
At 3 meters, which is rather one, you don’t have much space. However, I also find Fargesia very pretty.

Hornbeam is already available at 150cm in height and is affordable as a narrow hedge plant. There is also a narrow and upright-growing laurel hedge that grows rapidly.
What is the paving supposed to be used for? Parking space or terrace? For a terrace, I would "enclose" it with privacy screen elements and plant flowering perennials, rose bushes, and stuff like that in front of it.

Hello, I planted cherry laurel last year in autumn along a length of about 20m (street side). The young shoots have already grown about 20cm this year. According to the description, the cherry laurel grows about 50cm per year and is very resistant to pruning. So far, it looks good.

In May, we also planted a [Blutbuchen-Hecke], the plants are already 180-200 cm tall. Of course, it is only really dense in the summer.

What do you mean by the third year? Each of our 50 plants has developed at least three shoots in the last 3 weeks, all of which are now over 1m tall.
