We build with stone wool. That is significantly more expensive, but every painter I know has advised me against EPS. With stone wool and appropriate plaster, there is still diffusion capability, which is no longer present with EPS. On the topic: good network cabling in the house will be a sales-promoting factor in the future. A photovoltaic system will certainly be a good argument, and definitely the general condition of the properties.

True geniuses, your painters...

(apologies for the off-topic post, but this has been discussed often enough... There simply is no more ridiculous argument against EPS).

Have the painter show you a facade that he has insulated with mineral wool. But please with some raking light. EPS can be sanded down and is in fact sanded. I'm not saying that it is impossible to create a reasonably smooth facade with mineral wool insulation - but I have yet to see one. However, 30% additional costs are certain.

By the way, this was also a topic here again this week, about what is best to understand by that – partly, it is a matter of principle.

I can contribute more to this in the spring. In the boiler room, there is no difference between the insulation and the normally plastered wall!

I think with gigabit network cables at all important points in the house (tv incl.) you are well equipped for the coming years. Anyone who thinks they can cover everything with WLAN is mistaken. Mesh is a great thing but where you can wire, this is always my first choice!
