What do you think about a laundry chute?

It always depends on where you undress. If the bathroom and bedroom are, for example, on the 3rd floor or even higher, such a laundry chute is of course practical. Especially when there really isn't space for a laundry basket in the bathroom or you don't want to see a laundry basket. If life takes place on the ground floor or the first floor and the basement is only one floor away, it is not necessarily needed.

We removed the laundry chute from the floor plan several times and planned it again. It was simply way too expensive for us, considering what the home-building companies wanted for it.

We then asked around among friends and family. Once children are there, the laundry baskets are emptied almost daily. That convinced us after all.

Since we are not building with a home-building company now, we will solve the issue quite easily/cheaply.

The bathroom on the upper floor is directly above the utility room on the ground floor. A recess was planned when pouring the ceiling. We have a drywall in the bathroom. A laundry hatch will be installed there (at about 80cm height) and 300mm KG pipes will lead down to the ground floor.

Try to change the height to at least 90cm, preferably 100cm. There are regulations regarding safety distances. Although a laundry chute is not mentioned anywhere, the minimum height for railings in private households is 90cm. To protect small children, simply increase it to 1m.

I would have concerns regarding soundproofing from the utility room (washing machine, controlled residential ventilation, etc.) to the bathroom (romantic bath for two).

With a flap/door on the pipe, you don't hear anything at all.
