if you want to have it then don’t let anyone talk you out of it. Because if you don’t build it in right away then it will never happen. Let the others talk, it’s your house and it’s only your business.

Good day,
I already know a few people who have had such a shaft made. And when I look at the advantages, it is definitely worth it. Especially in a household with many people, it is worth considering.

Good day, anyone who has the opportunity to have such a shaft made should definitely do so. Because once the house is built, it's too late and you will regret for a long time that you didn't do it. I wouldn't care about other people's opinions. Best regards

I am sure once they have it, they won’t want to give up the shaft anymore. Friends of mine also have such a shaft for the laundry and it’s really a nice thing!

Hi,
Laundry chute is just great!!! If it is reasonably well planned, there is no draft either, the only thing that bothers me is the noise transmission resulting from the hollow connection between the floors.
Furthermore, it would be interesting to know how a laundry chute works in combination with a [externally vented] range hood. It would be bad if you smell dirty laundry when you are cooking.
Best regards

Hello Sonny, hello everyone,

I can only say, such a laundry chute is a great thing and it is not expensive at all.

The best way is if the floor plans of the house are designed so that the upper end of the chute is in the bathroom and the lower end is in the utility room. That means these rooms should be one above the other. This way, the laundry basket in the bathroom can be omitted and the dirty laundry ends up directly in a basket next to the washing machine. At my home, a normal KG pipe with a diameter of 400mm serves as the chute, but probably 300mm would also be enough. For the top cover, I have cut a wooden lid to fit and screwed on a metal handle, so very simple.

What matters is that everyone throws their dirty laundry into it and does not leave it lying around. But that is purely a matter of upbringing.

Best regards from the Osnabrück region
