That's true! For 5,000 € I would have a cistern installed directly during the earthworks. Maybe the drilling company was thinking of a brine drilling for the heat pump? With low groundwater, i.e. up to 10m drilling depth, the well with pump and everything else shouldn't cost much more than 1,000 €.

Apparently, we flush more sparingly... I don't need 5l for "Pipi". And you have to water the lawn less often than you think, a few times during heatwaves has been enough for me.

It's easier to calculate with 5 liters. Sometimes it's less, sometimes more, sometimes there are guests, sometimes you go to the bathroom more often, etc.
I just wanted to illustrate how quickly a lot of water can add up.

But it is a German problem that people use water more sparingly, which is unnecessary. The pipes clog more and more and the sewage systems are designed for different quantities.

I had a well flushed and it cost 400 euros. Is it worth it? No idea, but I have a second water supply, which I somehow find quite nice...

You don’t actually have to water the lawn constantly, but it depends on what type of seed was sown. Exception: The seeding. Flower beds are watered twice on hot days. Border plantings, such as shrubs or trees, rarely need to be watered except in the first two years. With 5,000 €, I would carefully consider whether this investment could actually pay off at some point. Running the toilet flush above is a good idea. We had also been considering that.

Garden water for toilet flushing - This should only be done with deep water and appropriate preliminary testing for, e.g., iron content, otherwise you will ruin your entire installation.
