We need to decide right now whether it will be a Grünbeck Softliq MC32 or a BWT Aqa Perla (possibly 4.0). Can one of the two be recommended more or are they basically the same except for the appearance? Can anyone say something about this? We definitely want (need) a 2-column system.

Thanks in advance!

I can't quickly find a datasheet for BWT. What is the intended application? Grünbeck is already quite a substantial system, mainly for multi-family houses with up to 20 residents. Otherwise, both are reputable, good manufacturers. Both systems have DIN-DVGW certification and all kinds of smart features if that’s important to you. Just compare datasheets, especially salt consumption and wastewater volumes, as those are the operating cost-relevant factors.

and even if I get overwhelmed here, I'll ask the plumber what he is trained for, also regarding the consequential costs.

We are also considering whether a descaling system might make sense; according to an analysis in May 2017, we have just under 17°dH. Is there a calculator somewhere that suggests the ideal descaling system, or are there not that many different models on the market?

I don't know of anything that is really independent and manufacturer-neutral. However, 17° is not particularly much to require special demands on the system. The remaining input for dimensioning is then your annual water consumption (think about the future here, children, etc.) and whether a single system is sufficient for you or if you want a double system. For every reputable manufacturer (for me, these are: Grünbeck, BWT, Berkefeld, SYR, JUDO...), there remain 1, max. 2 systems to choose from. Then you compare the respective specific consumptions, which should not differ (much) anymore, and of course, you also check whether your plumber is already a maintenance partner somewhere.

Hello,

did you carry out the test yourself?

I just googled it. On Wasserhärte-Deutschland.de, 12.6 dH is listed for our building area or the city. Can there be different hardness levels in different districts (small town with 3k inhabitants)?
The optimal hardness is 8.3-8.4 dH, right? Is it even "worth it" to invest in a water softening system at 12.6 dH? The running costs decrease the smaller the difference to the optimal hardness is, right?

Regards denz
