The monthly average is only 6m3

That means 6 x 0.7 = 4.2kg salt per month, that means we need 50.4 kg salt per year. That means 2 bags about 17€

6 x 54l = 324l wastewater

Additionally 120€ maintenance, so approximately 150€ per year all in

Thank you

You can certainly still drink it. Numerous mineral waters have sodium content that is often well above 200 mg/l. A rather well-known one from Bad Überkingen even has > 1000 mg/l, and you can actually taste that. Sodium-containing foods (including drinking water) are said to raise blood pressure in sensitive individuals and may therefore be a possible cause of hypertension. Additionally, especially sodium-rich waters are not suitable for preparing infant formula. Hence the limit in the drinking water ordinance.

We also have very hard water (>20dh). At the beginning, I also tested 0dh. However, you could detect a slight salty aftertaste there. Since my wife drinks a lot of green tea, she noticed this negatively. Now it is set to 7dh. I have no fear of contamination, as the flow rate is very high and it is regularly flushed with salt.

Congratulations. Hardly to be outdone in unreliability. Just the salt consumption of 25 kg/month alone. Others manage with that for half a year!

Have you already tested these?
We are now the fourth homeowners in our circle of acquaintances who have installed these on recommendation. We have had them for just one year, the others for a little over 7 years, and we are all very satisfied! Salt consumption is indeed somewhat higher: 25 kg in 8-10 weeks, from 25°dH to 5°dH, 4 people plus 1200 sqm garden (which is also watered with softened water).
So, what exactly was unreliable about it again?
Everyone always thinks these softening systems are miracle devices. Meanwhile, the process is so simple that any fool can understand it. The only expensive part of such a device is a good resin cartridge. The rest is frills (no one needs a colored touch display) that you pay for unnecessarily at Grünbeck and BWT.
We are very satisfied with this unreliable thing.
