Hello,
I am still in the planning phase for a house build.
My wife wants a vinyl floor in the bathroom that is also installed in the walk-in shower.

Are there any experiences or does anyone know if and how this would be feasible?
According to my research, this is not even such a bad idea.
However, I have doubts about the whole thing.

Thanks in advance for your effort.

There are special systems that meet this requirement and should be installed by specialists. You definitely won't save money with that. I wouldn't want that and would therefore ask what advantage she sees in it. Maybe it's just about avoiding cold feet. That could be solved better.

Why? That is an absolutely exotic wish. Not easy to implement. But you need specialists who can do it correctly. For that, you then have "plastic" in the shower and probably paid more than for high-quality tiles or comparable to a seamless coating.

She just imagines wanting to have a uniform floor in almost the entire house. A colleague is supposed to have the same and be enthusiastic about it. Admittedly, a vinyl floor feels more comfortable than tiles. But I did not expect that this wish is quite specific.

How boring. Different rooms with different furnishings and different uses can certainly have different floors.

The concept of a consistently uniform flooring can look very good. My younger sister implemented this in her house with a seamless self-leveling screed floor and it indeed looks fantastic. The open shower has the same beautiful floor as the living room. Accents are set here and there with a rug. There is nothing boring about it. For this concept to work, a certain spatial generosity is needed, which cannot be found in square meter optimized houses. And: the floor must simultaneously meet the appearance of the most important design room AND the individual loads of all rooms, since furniture pieces must be placed close together to ensure sufficient functionality. This costs money, calculate at least €140 per sqm for a good execution in the house – whether microcement, screed floor, epoxy resin floor, PU floor, or whatever else is available. The attempt to implement this with laminate is like putting a columned portal in front of a terraced house because you like the castle look.
