Hello,

our method has now been standing for a while... at some point the gaps have to be closed...
Our kitchen is arranged in a U. The long side, of course, never measures exactly to the centimeter to be completely filled with cabinets. So there is always a gap somewhere where actually a filler strip (I think that's what they call it in the planner) should go.
But where do I get that from? Ideally, it should have the same color as the fronts.
And how do I fix it?

Regards

The problem is that I can't get a cover... it should have the color of the fronts. But since I have to saw the part, I always have a visible saw edge... I'll take some photos this evening...

hello,
wouldn't it be nicer, instead of filling the small gap, to remove the element to the right and insert a correspondingly larger part?

by the way, there is a strip for covering saw edges, but I can't recall the name right now...
best regards, robi

Unfavorable position of the gap. It would have been better if the cabinet closed directly to the corner cabinet and at the other end a gap between the cabinet and the wall would have been covered. At Ikea, usually shadow panels are installed rather than filler panels. The shadow panel closes off with the cabinet body, not the front. In this case, the cut edges are not so problematic. I assume that at this point you wouldn't really like the shadow panel and you want a filler panel that lies flush with the fronts. Then the cut edge should be closed as nicely as possible. If I see correctly, it is a Ringhult cream-colored front with black cabinet bodies. Finding the matching edge band to close the edge will be difficult, especially for self-application by ironing on. Whether such a thing even exists in high gloss, I don't know. It is also not a standard color, so it has to be something as similar as possible. That actually only works by direct comparison. For that, I would ask Ostermann whether they can tell you who has samples of all 20,000 decors or if there is another way to find something suitable. In order for the panel to be at the same height as the doors, it must be screwed onto a wooden strip in the color of the cabinet bodies, so that 1.5 mm of the strip remain visible to achieve a uniform joint pattern. The filler panel is then attached to the cabinet body with the strip. It would certainly be advantageous if a second strip was attached to the other cabinet body as well.

The whole thing was just set up as the Ikea planner suggested. Moving the corner cabinet to close the gap isn’t an option either, it looks stupid when the countertop on the right is 10 cm lower than on the left..... besides, the countertop is custom-made from Ikea, and it wasn’t exactly cheap. Putting a dark strip underneath wouldn’t be the problem, I’d buy an intermediate shelf, saw it to fit, and screw it in or attach the whole thing with a magnetic mechanism or glue it. But a cream-colored panel like in the planner would be nice. I find it really crazy that Ikea has no solution for this even though the planner suggests it that way. As a customer, you do feel a bit tricked..... Btw: Who or what is Ostermann? Cheers Spanni

actually, edge banding alone is not enough. I would have to reupholster the entire board because it has rounded edges on the left and right, not 90° edges...
