Part 2 I agree.

Part 1 is the question I ask myself. The windows are already ruined if some beast gets me. Do I have to drag the shutters down into ruin as well? The Americans in hurricane areas nail their windows shut. I can't manage that that quickly.

How about shutters that can be closed?

Yes, it would be good if there were more such projects that take all these factors into account. Unfortunately, the impression is that there should be more of them. In our neighborhood, a huge new building complex is currently being constructed. As it looks, they are all quite expensive condominiums. A pity.

About our project: an old farmyard is being converted. Of course, also energetically renovated. This creates 9 condominiums of various sizes where previously only two households lived. At reasonable prices. I find that better than building a single-family house on a greenfield site. But I also understand that such a thing is not for everyone. Some simply need more space and more distance to the neighbor.

I'll try again. Unfortunately, you are wrong there. If you search online using the keywords land sealing, evaporation, climate, you will find plenty of information on the topic and the connections.

The best for the Earth - no, the Earth doesn’t care, the best for the fauna would be if humans controlled and shut down all nuclear power plants, then turned off all electrical installations and then dropped dead. But that will not happen.

The best for future generations would be if we finally got off our lazy asses and forgot our selfish attitude. If EVERYONE contributed their little part, that would already help a lot. But that won’t happen, let’s not kid ourselves. Our children will get the bill, sometimes when I see everything completely black, I blame myself for having been so selfish as to want to have a child. It will not have it any easier than we do, and who knows what awaits us in old age.

Apart from that, we don’t even need to look at the abstract climate. It’s enough to look at the “social” system, to which I count all professions involving people. It starts with the lousy, underground and underpaid working conditions of educators, caregivers and all hospital staff. I’m far from thinking socialism in extreme forms is good, in my opinion that leads to nothing, but in this extremely profit-maximized system in which we live, that’s obviously not good either – for no one except those who have money in abundance. And even they will eventually realize that they can’t buy everything.

I’m digressing – I just wanted to point out that probably not enough people will be reached to change enough in time. Even on a small scale that doesn’t work, so how should it be enough on a large scale to really make a difference.

Please, not again this “caregivers and educators earn so little” – half-truths. The fact is that caregivers’ salaries have risen significantly in recent years and are now at a good to very good level. Due to the shortage of caregivers, a hospital cannot afford to fire them, even if they work poorly/have no motivation/are constantly sick. Unfortunately, this leads to the diligent ones becoming increasingly unmotivated. The fact is that hospitals (especially private ones) cannot simply adjust salaries because they do not set prices themselves; these are predetermined. The fact is, my wife is a teacher and earns about €5,200 gross per month. So let’s please leave this pub discussion behind and get back to the actual topic.
