I think it's great when there are people who do everything to protect the environment. Unfortunately, this won't have much impact on climate change. Even if all Germans do it. Of course, that doesn't mean everyone should stop now...

Yesterday, there was an interesting discussion about this on Markus Lanz. Germany mainly buys palm oil from Indonesia and mixes it into fuel to improve its environmental statistics. On the other hand, rainforests are being cleared in Indonesia and new palm oil plantations are being established. That totally makes sense and is totally eco-friendly...

You are right about that too. Without Google, I mean Germany would be in 6th place on the list of CO2 emitters, and of course China and the USA are at the top. Of course, with our 2% share we cannot save the world, I am well aware of that. Nevertheless, I do not want to live as if I couldn't care less. Because I can neither reconcile that with my conscience nor defend it in front of the child. I am not the type to point fingers at others: you are doing... and do it myself. As a country, you are also not in a position to demand more climate protection from others if you do nothing yourself.

My best friend and his girlfriend would not move to where I am moving now for any price (and that is still Berlin after all). If they had the means and opportunity, she would prefer a 4-room apartment in the [Bötzowviertel] with a large rooftop terrace and an elevator to even the nicest house in the countryside. Secretly, I think he is a little disappointed that I am now practically moving "to the countryside."

I think it's completely fine - as a single person and as a couple, I also felt very comfortable in big cities. But not as a family anymore. And if new buildings are constructed with proper sound insulation, the neighbors hardly cause any disturbance. I do like to have some private green space, so it would have to be a larger balcony or a rooftop terrace that is sturdy enough for large planters. Then I wouldn't need a car either.
