I would have expected these questions from other users...
That wasn’t really a question anyway. By now, there are already several decades of experience with ETICS with different constructions. And with the old 40 mm versions, the existing substrate does not necessarily have to be removed when additional insulation is applied.
Hence the question, why should the current system have to be removed after x years?
Regarding the Fraunhofer Institute, I have come down to earth; sobered.
At least they are honest and use my preferred wall construction for the building shown in the film: with a ventilated facade in front.
- Mold fungi inside the building,
- Algae growth on facades.
- The durability of the applied synthetic render is low
- poor use of passive solar energy
So what? Blaming mold fungi inside on the ETICS is not really fair, algae growth is a problem but does not primarily affect the functionality of the ETICS and also occurs (sometimes less frequently) with other wall constructions, durability requires maintenance, usability of passive solar energy: unfortunately, not everything is possible.
Because polystyrene is waterproof and therefore no water transport can take place in external walls, indoor air humidity in apartments rises above 60 percent relative humidity in winter, which promotes the formation of dust mites
I am just too sober to follow the chain of reasoning. However, a slight itching from the mites began.
The costs of energetic building renovation significantly exceed the savings.
So what? It’s always about finding a good compromise within the legal framework. And it’s not always about monetary benefits. For some, a highly insulated house is a status object like a fancy car, or a substitute for religion, why not?
Why at most 30 years (sorry, was a typo) is very well described in this book:
That doesn’t match my experience, so I won’t buy the book.
Deconstruction = removing the system, snapping off the anchors, chipping off the remaining mortar blobs
That takes time and has nothing at all to do with the executing craftsman business.
Very understanding, and next up there will be psychological support and wellness vacations for the workers.
Maybe the construction site was in Berlin, then it was even fast.
