I am an avowed bungalow fan, but it is inherently the most expensive way to create living space and also energy-demanding. I can only partially understand the reservations against a one-and-a-half or two-story house. However, in terms of price, you can easily make up for a stairlift compared to a bungalow.

Submitting a building inquiry yourself is a poor start; a professional can argue more sustainably.

are you planning to build with a basement or on a slab?

We faced a similar problem and solved it by placing our office / guest room in the basement, but with a large window and a large light well in front of this window.

Maybe that would be an option for you?

A two-story house does not necessarily have to become a "town villa." Just as well, you can build a gable roof or a shed roof on it. With a shed roof, an exposed roof truss from the inside is especially beautiful (provided that the attic is not absolutely needed).

A slope does not have to be so disturbing either. If you raise the knee wall accordingly, it is practically like a full story. Friends of ours have a knee wall of 2.10 m.
