@ Driver,

I only stopped myself from just giving everything away because I was strongly advised not to depend on craftsmen in these times unless absolutely necessary. But basically, you are right!

Thanks for all your creative suggestions! The idea of using foil on individual tiles is great, I didn’t even know that was possible. I also feel a bit sorry that the floor makes you all feel queasy…

@ Elefant: I know! But it made me come up with really dumb ideas  :)

Seen the picture and understood the challenge. I would renew the floor and for that take down the ceramic on the wall and remove a few rows of tiles on the left wall - the room must be terrible on the ears. Country house style is hard to imagine working well in such a small room. Metro style could fit.

If it were my bathroom, replace the toilet, replace the washbasin with one that has a cabinet underneath. Remove the mirrored cabinet, cover the tiled area above the shelf completely with a mirror, with appropriate wow lighting above it, renew the bathtub faucet, maybe the faucets in black or brass.

Cover the floor with vinyl flooring.

Change the wall color slightly, not white everywhere.

Thank you for your input!
It is probably true that the country house style works better in large rooms. Do you mean Hampshire like that because you also like the “Hamptons” living style? (By the way, I named myself that because London is my dream city.)
Large mirror for small rooms—I have often read that, but never implemented it myself. For space reasons, I wanted to use a mirrored cabinet. A large mirror is better, but a wall cabinet with a mirror above the sink would be so practical. If any things are left lying around openly, I can't stand it.
I have to take a look at Metro Style first, I don’t know it yet!
Great how you are thinking about it, thanks again!

The Metro style is currently very popular especially in England and is characterized by contoured rectangular tiles that are often used in strong and shiny colors. This type of tile can be found in some older subway stations, hence the name. Even though it is called "Metro," the style is associated with London, so it should suit your preference. A very large mirror visually enlarges the space. If you place it above the tile edge, you have a pretty good spot for it. Pay attention to what you see in the mirror (besides your own reflection). Therefore, I would not tile the opposite wall all the way up, but only in the splash area of the bathtub. The wall can then get a nice color or – very British – a crazy wallpaper. Most Germans get queasy at the thought and ask questions about mold, durability, and so on. If you know that it is not made "for eternity" and "maximum efficiency," but for the heart, you can approach something like this. My nickname is Hampshire because I find the home region of my wife beautiful and highly appreciate the cultivated serenity of the people there.

Ok, thanks for the info. I can imagine something from that. A close relationship with the UK is very likeable. Best regards!
