The external roller shutter is not completely waterproof: is that normal?

new windows were installed in my condominium, and one window also got an external roller shutter. When it rains, water runs down on the inside of the shutters, both when the shutters are fully lowered and when they are partially lowered (see photo).

The company that installed the shutters says this is normal. Is that correct? I find it a bit strange and am afraid that when raising the shutters, the moisture will get into the roller shutter box and the shutters themselves will be relatively quickly damaged.

That is of course not normal, but clearly a defect. Unfortunately, you cannot see what it could be, since you do not show the situation from the outside as well. In the pictures, I only see an insect screen wet with raindrops behind a blind, but nothing of the construction of the blind or its box is visible.

I am afraid that the moisture will then also get into the roller shutter box when pulled up, and the roller shutters themselves will be affected relatively quickly.

so there shouldn’t be that many water droplets on your insect screen on the inside. At least it’s not like that for us. So I would also say that there is a defect.

If it is so wet with rain and closed shutters, you should be able to observe where all the water is coming from. If it is a front-mounted shutter, it can actually only run behind it. At least that is what the even stripes of raindrops on the fly screen indicate.
