The question was whether the terrace already exists. Which post? Usually, the terrace is attached to the house wall.

And then with Siemens air hooks at the front? I can understand the OP, it looks like it would be in the way on the property plan. But I can say from personal experience that with slim posts it is not a problem at all. Since the vertical awning was only available 4m wide for us, our posts for the 6m terrace roof had to be pushed in by 1m on both the left and right sides. One of them is thus also in the line of sight of the terrace door.

So we have 4m depth here and that actually wasn't more expensive, but we are in zone 2, as far as I can see. Over here, they used rather narrow but tall rafters. I would find it a bit too much if that covered the entire side of the house, because then you wouldn’t see any of the house at all. Where and how which posts stand (or have to stand) could be drawn out or visualized somehow. If you post the plan as a whole, which is always useful anyway, one can also imagine something like that better. Actually, I would look at that very closely with others or set it up exactly like that for myself, whether it is really comfortable enough, because I would rather not build a lazy compromise and instead help myself with other means (high-quality umbrellas, sails, or similar). Please check this very individually for yourselves, other people have different sensitivities and also tend to present their own way as the best option. I also find it nice if not the entire terrace is roofed so that you also have a part under the open sky. At our old house, we had a terrace across the entire width of the house, the one in front of the living room glass facade had 28 sqm (7x4). We never sat on it even once, but always only on the smaller one. However, in my opinion, this was a bit tight with 3m for several people; it worked, but behind the chair was immediately the end of the terrace. Maybe you have some pictures or details.

We actually tried to visualize the position of the post with a board. I have attached a photo of the interior and exterior views. I have also attached the entire input plan. You can even see the post with exactly 3m distance to the boundary in the top view of the west side. But it ends up right in the middle of the sliding door and is therefore directly in the line of sight from inside to the garden. And that's what is giving us a headache.

Oh yes, and as you can see in the pictures, the terrace has not been built yet. It is supposed to be a ground-level terrace with wooden decking. The ground has already been compacted for a width of 4m. That means a fine leveling layer will be added on top, followed by concrete stones, pedestal supports, and an aluminum substructure. The whole thing will span the entire width of the house and is planned to be 3.5 m deep.

Our experience: We look out from our three windows onto the terrace at four such concrete columns. That has never bothered us. PS: We also do not have a transparent roof.. (Depth 4m)… have not regretted it to this day!
