I should have done that with us too. Unfortunately, I became aware of it too late.

I find the idea of the external building charming, would need to check if it is feasible space-wise

We have an insulated wooden ceiling floor. On it stands a 300l hot water tank. The ventilation system and gas heating are also in the attic. They hang on a wall made of [Rauspundbrettern], which I built between 2 roof beams. We have now been living in the house for 2 weeks and you can't hear anything at all! Although I am very sensitive to noise...

Wouldn't it be better to design the house so that most of that is not needed?

What is your suggestion?

From my point of view, too much attention has been paid to insulation for some time now, and too little to storage capacity. If you build the house from materials with good storage capacity, for example expanded clay (Liapor), and perhaps use a solid brick roof, then the temperature doesn't drop immediately in winter when you ventilate thoroughly, and in summer you don't need air conditioning. And it should also be possible to design a heat pump (are you thinking more of deep drilling or surface collectors?) in such a way that you can completely do without the gas connection and the chimney. By the way, I would then rather think of a wall heating system than a floor heating system, but that is a matter of taste. And of course the electricity for it comes from the roof.

So in my opinion, even though I am a technology fan, you shouldn’t overdo it with the house. It all costs a lot of money, needs maintenance, can break down a lot, and you basically chase every trend to solve the problems associated with it with additional technology. Not a good development...

So ideally you only need photovoltaics on the roof and a heat pump with deep drilling or surface collectors. Everything else has to be done by physics itself. In summer, the system can also run in reverse mode.
