Everything has basically already been said. But if you can do a little yourself or have someone from the family who can help out, you can save quite a bit.

Can be wonderfully done by two people in an afternoon if you have access to the construction site. Order cables and installation pipes and then lay them on site, as much as you need plus reserve.

That's just how it is. A car in the EU abroad is often cheaper than the one at the dealer next door.

Probably the usual Telegärtner. Here too, you can simply do it yourself and order a simple to medium quality from any random dealer. Then you're at about 150€, but including router and a 24x patch panel.

The biggest item to save on. For a third of the price, you can get a comparable system, admittedly you have to do it yourself here as well.

This is the typical rip-off with property developers, but there's nothing you can do about it anymore. The only solution is to save costs with your own work, if the developer even lets you tinker around with the house.

We found an electrician where you normally pay for the materials + labor. Price-wise, you’re then at about 40-50% of your mentioned costs. With the flat rates per connection point, socket, etc., they make a fortune. The satellite dish, for example, cost a total of around €700-750 for six participants as well.

Hello community, hello Alexander,

I currently have the same question in mind.

To begin with, my electrician took over the electrical installation because the old electrician dropped out after working for 4 hours.

The new offer for our purchased turnkey semi-detached house was even cheaper than the previous offer from the old electrician. It includes all the services listed in the purchase contract.

Our special services included:

2 additional RCDs for €80 each
4 additional Cat7 network cables for €360 each
4 flush-mounted speaker cables with connection for €265 each

A patch panel including a switch and a small "server cabinet" would have cost €3320, which of course I did not accept after a brief research, just like the speaker cables.

I actually also think that at least the 4 additional network cables and the 4 speaker cables can be laid by oneself.

Since I am basically just the buyer, I am not allowed to do anything on the construction site as long as the developer does not give his approval, which I think he would.

But I am unsure if the electrician would allow someone to "interfere" in his trade; I rather think not.

What would you do?

Greetings from Bavaria

If you are not allowed to do it yourself, just have empty conduits installed. You won't get them for free, but you can pull in whatever you want, even in a few years. Have a box installed at the end of the empty conduit. If you don't need it now, you can put a blank cover on it. Also, lay a pull wire inside the empty conduit. Choose the diameter of the empty conduit depending on the planned cables and possibly select one size larger.

Exactly. Empty conduits. That's how I did it.

Imho an outrage. Have empty conduits installed and do it yourself, it might cost you about 10%. €230 to lay a network cable into the wall, that person is not quite right. The two-way switch is basically instead of a simple switch? And another €150 on top of that? That should basically be cost-neutral. Sat is also way too expensive, you can distribute it over IP as well. You can also skip telephone sockets. One connection in the server room, the rest is distributed via IP/DECT.
