You keep reading that, or something similar... and it’s always nonsense. Disability insurance covers you against not being able to work in your last exercised profession (for health reasons). That doesn't necessarily mean you can no longer work as a software developer, but maybe not to the same time extent as your (old) position required.

Well, it does make a difference whether you are a roofer, baker, or application developer. To be honest, I’m with on this. Until the disability insurance pays out, quite a lot has to happen; a considerable number of cases also end up in court.

220k equity 500k construction sum Then still 24k Baukindergeld. Gets at least 100k loan from KFW at 0.85%. Question if one can afford it...... One rather that it can become pretty tight. Alternatively continue to rent and sponsor the landlord with the golden car rims. Complaining at a high level. No wonder Germany is the largest tenant country in the EU. The Greeks have the most property.

Germany has the strongest tenant protection and it is being further strengthened. Therefore, the homeownership rate is not necessarily a meaningful figure. It is becoming increasingly difficult to get tenants out. There is also less pressure to create property ownership...

There is Dread Disease insurance for serious illnesses. Significantly cheaper than the German disability insurance (BU). With a colleague, the BU simply litigated until she was dead. The heirs have no interest in pursuing the claims further.

Burnout is a condition lasting 6-12 months, the BU easily waits it out or doesn't have to pay at all because it is temporary with a positive prognosis. Besides, I think it's better to invest in prevention rather than insuring against it.

But yes, if the worst case happens, you will certainly be glad to have a BU. However, it is ridiculously expensive and the risk is definitely worth discussing. I

I had to google what that was first. Interesting, but then I read this:

Dread Disease therefore does not pay out for burn-out and back or disc problems. Exactly the two things I am most likely to be affected by as a desk worker. By the way, orthopedic and psychological ailments make up 50% of the cases in which a classic BU pays. No wonder this insurance is cheaper.
