Sockets: Always prepare sets of 5? What is the best way?

I don’t quite understand the desire for a junction box. Do you want to clamp it before plastering? Or plaster/spackle over the boxes afterwards? IF boxes are to be prepared, I would set them almost flush with the wall, as already mentioned cut off the tabs from the covers, and if you ever need them, work with spacer rings, but I don’t understand why your acquaintance has already brought the rings into play now. My opinion, by the way: I would retrofit only when needed and rather invest brainpower now in where something is needed instead of generally planning more everywhere already.

So I would just put in a 5-can right away! It doesn’t cost that much more and for me that would be too much additional effort, you don’t save anything that way!

Hello Christian,
I am currently in the middle of a - in the truest sense of the word - major renovation.
Why don’t you plan "properly" from the start?
I know how it is, ... you always end up with too few sockets.
But for my kitchen, for example, I have now planned 12 sockets and they will be installed and properly plastered right away.
Do you really think you want to make a mess again later on by chipping away plaster?

Hey Ulrike, you often read this statement and then have doubts... will it be enough? I think I once read online that someone did it that way and can now expand without problems. We have now planned generously and it should actually be enough. Every wall has at least one socket, whereby we planned a maximum of 4-socket outlets. That is now being reconsidered as well. The background was that the frames for 5-socket outlets are disproportionately more expensive than the 4-socket ones. Now that I am also looking up specific items, you can see that, for example, the Busch-Jäger 5-socket cover frame is a little over 50% more expensive than the 4-socket one... but (!) that is 5€... Let’s say 20 large frames, then that is 100€. We currently also have 12 sockets in the kitchen, although there will probably be a few more. It is simply difficult to estimate. Is a 2-socket enough, in a spot that looks nice and discreet, or do you want to do a 4-socket right away just because there is space... Hence the idea to retrofit more if necessary later. But as I said, I am relieved from this idea. I just have to inform myself regarding the deeper sockets, etc.

Just take low doses, then you are always on the right track.
With horizontal arrangement, always insert the cable entry at a 45-degree angle, that is, diagonally, so the claws of the sockets cannot damage the cables and the socket base remains free for retrofitting.

Another idea: Install the 5-gang strip, cover the UP boxes not yet needed with signal caps, and plaster over it. Cut off the nipples beforehand. Then you have everything in place and only need to break off the plaster later.
