I do not feel offended Yes and no Yes, it is elaborate and no, it cannot be executed cost-neutrally. If the Association of Private Builders can do that, from now on I will only order it through them Rheinland greetings

The upgrade of an external waterproofing to the load case "backing up seepage water" (DIN 18195-6) requires only a small additional effort. The thick coating is applied only in such a way that the dry layer thickness later amounts to 4 mm. Furthermore, a fabric is continuously installed between the first and second layer. Instead of 10 cm, the bituminous thick coating is connected to the WU base plate over 15 cm. Since the work steps remain almost the same, the additional costs should only result from the slightly higher consumption of thick coating.

Argh - now I wanted to quote my post and slipped on the keyboard. Now it's lost

I am somewhat surprised by your price assumption. When I request an offer for a WD basement - they are routinely sealed against ground moisture (DIN 18195-4), I receive different prices from all the BU companies. Your response has, of course, made me more attentive now.

Are not the components highly reinforced in this type of basement, and is a ring ground made of stainless steel also required?

Rhenish greetings

Hi construction expert,

something like that

you hear that again and again, but to be honest, I can never understand why. I just had the discussion again with my brother-in-law, who built without a basement 12 years ago and has been struggling with lack of storage space ever since.

yes, a basement is expensive, no question, but with about €750/m² it is FAR below the price for normal living space. And if I don’t have a basement, I have to cut into my utility room plus storage area from the living space on the ground floor and upper floor. Including circulation space, I easily waste 20 m² at €1,500/m², so also €30k. Then the garden shed gets significantly bigger, or a garage with an extension is built, and another €5-10k is gone. And then I’m not far off the roughly €50k that a basement costs me for a 140 m² house (my brother-in-law). But for that, the basement offers me a hefty 60-70 m² of space.

And it gets worse: to realize the same living area as with a basement, I inevitably have to build the house bigger and/or add extensions to the house or garage. But then the garden becomes smaller, ergo a larger plot is needed...

Yes, a basement is an expensive storage room, but what is a CHEAPER alternative?

Best regards,

Andreas
