With 1000 sqm, you only need the ride-on mower because your wife actually forbids you the toy ;)
What have you actually installed in your garden? High four figures (7-8k?) would be more than just a few hundred plants or something very exclusive. As a reference, the range from Hof Berggarten (so rather high quality), where we will probably order quite a lot. There, the perennial bed is about ~10€/sqm, seed mixtures for perennial areas rather at most half that. All in all, I currently calculate 1000-1500€ for a garden with quite a few plants, sowings, and shrubs. That's more than the lawn + 3 apple trees + a hedge of 10 small bushes garden that was in the calculation, but still not the end of the world. Of course, the shrubs are then rather small, but with 500-1000€ you could easily buy yourself a few years of time. Transplanting 5m tall trees is not so good for the tree anyway.
The only thing that could actually still really cost a lot is the flower bulbs. 10-20 pieces/sqm at about ~50c each over larger areas...
The worst was the 2m high Yellow River magnolia, which died on us after 3 months during the vacation. 400€ gone.....
The noble roses, Amber-

It was a pity about the 2.5m high Yellow River magnolia that died on us 3 months after planting while on vacation. 400€ lost...
Our Amber and sumac trees are growing well, the Acer palmatum only in the shade unfortunately. Ok, one is still fighting.
A eucalyptus is growing really well here, it’s already 4m tall.
