It would be nice if some of you showed your terrace. With so many options, it's hard to decide.

What material and color did you choose and why? What are your experiences after 5 years or more? How big is it? What did you pay for it? Have you integrated elements like [e.g. umbrella stands, raised beds] or similar? Did you do the work yourselves? Do you know great suppliers for materials that you can recommend? What would you do differently next time?

There are surely many other builders who would appreciate pictures and tips. THANK YOU in advance!

No privacy. Don’t want the financial officer from Braunschweig stalking me.

No one believes you... After all, you have been living in the new house for several years now.

I think it's a shame if you clog the thread with comments that are off-topic. So just briefly: yes, we are still sitting on the lawn and want to change that.

I don’t want to show anything either, but I can describe how it looks

The terrace facing west is 25 sqm in size, bordered with curbstones and a mowing edge made of rectangular pavers, and covered with 2 cm thick gray wood-look tiles (Hellweg, 60 Euro/sqm) on a gravel bed. They are relatively strongly textured, so they can also be walked on when wet and don’t heat up too much.

Currently shaded with two cantilever umbrellas, with concrete-inserted sleeves facing south and west. That works quite well and overall cost around 100 Euro. It will stay like this for now; I can’t think of anything similarly flexible right now. Maybe there will be larger and higher-quality umbrellas eventually.

Otherwise, we have modern aluminum furniture (the ones covered with a kind of fabric and therefore usable without cushions – very practical!!) and an XXL cushion box. The grill stands on two slabs next to the terrace; otherwise it would have been too tight. But actually, it’s quite practical that way.
