I see it exactly the same way, I would even say get rid of the pantry completely, enlarge the kitchen and then work with a nice big island and a tall cabinet wall! Of course, the well-known manufacturer would like to sell their U-shaped kitchen with two expensive dead corners! No serious person does that today!As a layman, the very large pantry immediately catches my attention. Does it really have to be that big? If half as much would be enough, you could design the kitchen in an L-shape and have a much more open living/dining/cooking area...
