Maybe a stupid question: As the client, am I allowed to just send the craftsmen away from the construction site due to need for clarification, without any legal or financial consequences? Does the general contractor have to accept this? Or were the plumbers craftsmen commissioned by you and not by the general contractor?

I did not ban them from the construction site. Strictly legally, of course, they are only allowed to take instructions from their client = in this case the general contractor. In practice, everything on the construction site is not so strictly separated. The statement "Wait a moment, stop, I have to make a phone call" and the phone call with the general contractor took place almost simultaneously, and of course he then said "stop everything, we'll clarify first." I myself have told the general contractor, as my contractor, that no screed installation will take place without prior approval of the heating loops by us.
